Implant Dentistry in the Digital World

Digital Dentistry is a reality when it comes to dental implant treatments. Precise implant size, implant position, and the corresponding final restorations can all be preplanned using sophisticated computer softwares. Advanced planning also allows us to fabricate actual surgical guides which direct the exact locations for implant placement: The jaw is evaluated in multiple dimensions. Digital Technology allows us to take the guess work out of implant dentistry, and helps make the treatment outcome more predictable and safe.

The image below illustrates an actual patient case in our office. By starting with a 3D Cone Beam scan we were able to determine what kind of restorations can be done, and where to place the implants without risks to the nerves and arteries in the patient's jaw.

Have a great time celebrating Halloween. Just remember ... Candies are fun to eat, but some candies can be damaging to your teeth and restorations in your mouth. Don't chew on extremely sticky candies or those that are too hard or crunchy. Have fun !

A Look at a Porcelain Case at Eight Years Post-delivery

One of the most asked questions during treatment consultations is how long porcelain restorations last. If the patient's bite is stable with all factors such as fit, esthetics, and function are addressed then the porcelain restorations can last a long time. The case below was photographed last week. At over eight years since the delivery of the case, all six anterior porcelain restorations still function perfectly. The esthetics of the case still exhibit proper contour, shade transition, intrinsic translucency, as well as surface texture.

With proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery, the restorations have exceeded the patients' expectations in both the esthetic result and longevity of the case.
